Sniffle sniffle. Sneeze.

For all our family members out there (and kind readers who like to hear an update on our little family), Victoria has gotten our first cold.  Poor girl.  She's miserably congested and runny, but we're keeping her on a steady routine of herbals to ease the discomfort.  She has a bit of a fever -- 101.4 102.6 (!!!) has been the highest so far (and, the highest fever I've ever seen her with).  Please keep her in your prayers.  Colds are just never fun.  Especially when you don't know enough words to tell mama how you feel.

So the other day, I ordered these two books.  (Click here and here if you want to see their link on Amazon.com)  I'm absolutely dying for them to come in.  I don't often buy books, but it always seems to happen that when I'm ready to buy a book, there's two or three or four more in related material that I end up getting.  I guess buying 3-4 books once or twice a year is a lot better than buying 3-4 books every other week.  Yes, I'm a recovering bookaholic.

I also bought some skeins of broderie anglaise cotton, with which to embroider a little petticoat for Victoria.  It'll (hopefully) be made so that she can grow into it pretty easily.  I'll make it very wide at the hem so as her waist grows, I can just unpick the waistband and reattach a new one.  And, of course, lots of tucks in order to allow the skirt to be lengthened.  I really hope I can manage to finish it.  For me, finishing something as detailed as embroideries is not an easy task.  I can easily get behind and let it fall by the wayside.  Hopefully, knowing I need to finish it for Victoria (before she grows too much!) will be a good way to stay on task.

Well, I suppose I must run.

Oh, poor little baby. I hate seeing a little one with a cold, they just don't understand. I will keep Victoria(and her worried mommy) in my prayers. Hopefully she will be right as rain in no time.

Enjoy your new books. I love getting new craft books, I just wish I could find the time to make everything in them :)

I hope she feels better soon! The first cold is always the scariest - but I'm sure she will be just fine.

I'm so sorry to hear about Victoria's illness. :( Colds are horrible. My boys have been fighting one the past few weeks and there were a few nights when they were so congested they could not breathe very well. It got a little scary! I'll be keeping Victoria in prayer. Hopefully she will be on the mend very soon!

And those books look great! What fun! I can't wait to hear about and see pics of the new petticoat.

Oh, hope she feels better soon.

The books are wonderful. 18th century embroidery techniques is one of my favorite costume books!

I'll pray for your sweet little cherub. She's blessed to have you for a mother.

God bless!
